Sarah was born to her father, Abbas Jahansouzshahi, who’s from Iran, and her mother, Mahmonir Soroushazar, from Spain. Mahmonir was an interior designer by profession.

At ten years old, Sarah’s parents parted ways. She has two siblings; elder brother Cyrus and younger sister Samantha.

Besides, Sarah has Iranian roots on both the maternal and paternal sides. Her father worked for the American embassy in Iran and managed to escape the country under an execution threat during the last Shah’s rule. Her maternal grandfather was Iranian, and her grandmother was Spanish.

As for her love life, Shahi was hitched to actor Steve Howey from 2009 to 2021 and had three children with him, two sons and a daughter. After this, she was also reportedly involved with actor Adam Demos.

Sarah’s career in modeling began at the age of eight when her parents started registering her in beauty pageants. She went on to join the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders in 1999 as a cheerleader to fuel her dream of becoming an actress.

Shahi started off as an extra in shows like “City Guys” and “Spin City.” But soon after meeting director Robert Altman, she moved to LA and bagged roles in TV shows like “Alias,” “Dawson’s Creek,” “Supernatural,” “Sleeper Cell,” and “Kennedy and Heidi.”

Her first major role on TV was as Carmen de la Pica Morales in the show “The L Word.” She then bagged her first lead role in the 2006 sitcom “Teachers.” Her other big roles were in “Life” as Dani Reese, “Person of Interest” as Sameen Shaw, and “Reverie” as Mara.

Sarah also had roles in several Hollywood films, like “Rush Hour 3,” “Static,” “Divine Access,” and many more. She made a big name for herself working with big names like Sylvester Stallone and Jason Momoa in the film “Bullet to the Head.”

After returning from her pregnancy break of about a year, she resumed work with CBS in 2016 as Nancy Drew in the same-titled series. She was also seen in the 2022 film “Black Adam” alongside Dwayne Johnson and Pierce Brosnan. Shahi’s most recent and renowned roles were in the series “City on a Hill” and “Sex/Life.”
