Lolo Jones’ Career

Lolo Jones’ journey on the track began at Louisiana State University, where she set a record for 100-meter hurdles.

Between 2002 and 2004, Jones achieved many laurels at the NCAA Outdoor and Indoor Championships. At LSU, she was among the top three women in 60 and 100-meter hurdles.

Jones’ professional career began in 2004 when she came second at the Stuttgart meet. Later that year, she stood sixth at the World Athletics final.

The next year saw her winning her first national championship at the USA Indoor Championships. She earned a place in the U.S Team at the World Championships in Japan and came sixth.

2008 and 2009 were challenging years for Jones’ health. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, she finished seventh because she tripped. It was later discovered that she had a spinal injury.

After her surgery, she opened the 2009 season in Europe, winning in Karlsruhe and Birmingham. She suffered a hamstring injury which caused her to stay out of crucial championships.

In 2010 Jones set a new American record in Diamond League Doha, Oslo, and New York. The next year again, she was injured, which forced her to miss most of the indoor season.

But soon after, Jones qualified for the summer Olympics in London and came fourth. That year she was also introduced to bobsledding and was given a place in the U.S. women’s bobsled push championship.

Besides tracks, Jones also explored acting. She starred in the film Red Bull Kluge playing herself in the movie, and also appeared in The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2012.

2014 was again focused on bobsledding, and Jones won gold in the FIBT World Championships. The team then proceeded to the Sochi Olympics, finishing eleventh.

The same year she was cast in another film, Left Behind, as Lori. Jones added another great win in 2015 in women’s hurdles at the NACAC Championships.

Jones’ most recent achievement was in 2020 at Mississippi College Season Opener, where she won both the 100 Meters Hurdles and 100 Meters events.
